| There always seems to be a reason
to skip the gym, whether you’re too tired, the kids are
acting up or you have too many errands. It’s time to put
aside the excuses and find a routine that works for you.
Here are a few motivational tips that I use to keep me going:
Choose a workout that you enjoy. If you hate running, don’t
torture yourself with hours on the treadmill. Try a group
fitness class – maybe you will prefer spinning or yoga.
If you enjoy exercise, you will look forward to working
out. Don’t be overaggressive. Ensure you give your body
adequate time for recovery. Walking around in pain is no
fun – and you will quickly lose motivation. Set goals you
will be able to accomplish. Do not set out to lose 60 pounds
in two weeks. It won’t happen, and when you step on the
scale, disappointment will set in. Be realistic and it will
be easier to be proud of your progress. |
Mix up your routine. Doing the
same routine over and over again will eventually get boring.
In addition, your results will not be as good. Avoid an
exercise plateau – and switch it up! Work with a certified
personal trainer. Having a personal trainer is an added
motivation. Your trainer can set up a fitness regimen that
suits your fitness level. In addition he/she will be there
to ensure you’re in proper form and keep an eye on your
progress. I’ve been working with a personal trainer for
a few months. Not only has my trainer kept me motivated,
even when I’m really not in the mood to work out, I’ve learned
the proper way to exercise. He has opened my eyes up to
new exercises and I’ve seen my results increase significantly.
If you miss a workout – get back on track. Don’t let yourself
get un-motivated by stressing about missing one workout
and get into a mindset of, “what’s the big deal I can skip
one more day.” Get right back into your routine and move
on! These are just some of the many ways to find your exercise
groove. Now, its time to give it a try. Good luck!
