The Lifestyle Family Fitness "Free Teen Summer
Membership" program concluded on a high note with even more teens
hitting up the gym to concentrate on their fitness. Overall, nearly
6,000 teens took advantage of the opportunity to work out in any
Lifestyle Family Fitness location for two months free throughout the
summer.
Among those teens taking part in the program are 24
members of the SCUBAnauts International, a non-profit group that
provides 12-18 year olds with learning experiences through ocean science
research and space exploration. The kids are preparing for Operation
DEEP CLIMB, a Hawaiian adventure that will submerse them 6,000 feet
below sea level to explore sea geology and ecosystems. From there, they
will climb the highest point in the state of Hawaii, Mauna Kea Mountain.
To prepare for this physical endeavor, the teens
will spend two months working out at Lifestyle Family Fitness locations
throughout the Tampa Bay area. In addition, Lifestyle Family Fitness certified personal trainer
Yuri Yoshio Hayashi has volunteered to prepare a training program for
the kids. The training program will consist of strength training with
high repetition and low weight along with a cardio workout including
walking two to three miles with weight packs.
"Lifestyle Family Fitness is excited that the "Free
Teen Summer Membership" program has given these 24 teenagers an
opportunity to prepare for their upcoming expedition," said Geoff Dyer,
Lifestyle Family Fitness CEO. "By taking advantage of the two-month free
membership offered at Lifestyle Family Fitness, these teenagers will be
physically equipped for adventure when they head to Hawaii to climb the Mauna Kea Mountain."
"Being able to workout at Lifestyle Family Fitness,
I know I will be prepared for my hike in October," said Mack Bunbury,
15-year-old SCUBAnaut member. "Our workouts are tough on us, but I know
it will be worth it when we are physically ready for adventure in Hawaii."
Lifestyle Family Fitness launched its second "Free
Teen Summer Membership" program at all 45 Lifestyle Family Fitness
locations throughout Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.
The company opened its doors beginning May 1st, for all teenagers (ages
12 to 17) by offering a free two-month membership. The program ended
August 15th, 2007.
