Holiday Dinner Done Right!
Celebrate this year’s holiday season with a warm, hearty and healthy meal. Indulge in a delicious turkey or sweet pumpkin pudding – but do it with less calories, sugar and fat. Lifestyle Magazine has whipped up some delicious options that will satisfy everyone at your holiday dinner table.
Holiday Turkey or Ham Glaze
2 tbs Honey
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 lb turkey or ham quarter
1 cup apple juice
4 oz apple sauce 
1/4 cup sweet white wine
(the sweeter the wine, the sweeter the glaze) 
 
  • Preheat oven 3250F.
  • Place unwrapped turkey or ham in the center of casserole dish.
  • Run a serrated knife against the grain of the skin with just enough pressure to slice into the meat. Make 3-4 slices across.
  • Pour apple juice over turkey or ham (baste a few times while mixing ingredience for glaze)
  • Stir together apple sauce, honey, ground cloves, and sweet white wine.
  • Spoon glaze mixture over the turkey or ham, use only enough to cover the top and run down the sides.
  • Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes per pound.
 
 
To be sure the meat stays moist baste with apple juice throughout the cooking process. Approximetly half way through cooking time spoon the rest of the glaze over the turkey or ham and finish cooking.
