10 steps to keeping your resolution
  1. Think about the past year, did you accomplish all of the things you wanted to? Write these goals down along with new goals for the New Year.
  2. Tell all of your friends and family. The more support you have, the more people you have to cheer you along if you start to lag.
  3. Make your resolutions specific. Instead of saying, “I will loose weight” say, “I want to loose 15 pounds.”
  4. Write down your goals and keep your list small. Don’t overload yourself. Try not to set 20 different goals.
  5. Don’t set the bar too high. Try to keep the goals realistic and attainable. Unrealistic goals are doomed from the start.
  6. Reward yourself each time you resist. If you have resolved to lose weight, pat your self on the back when you pass on the dessert or make it to the gym!
  7. Change your resolution date if you need to. January 1st doesn’t always work out. You choose, it’s your life!
  8. Visualize yourself attaining your goal and imagine how you will feel when you do! The clearer the picture, the more likely you are to succeed.
  9. Don’t give up! Research shows that it takes 21 days for something to become a habit and at least 6 months for it to become part of your lifestyle.
  10. Look back on the progress you have made at the end of the year. Call your friends and family and let them know that you kept your New Year’s resolution!
